Whether you’re new to CBD or looking to learn more about something your friends are always talking about, we can answer some of the most common misconceptions about CBD.
Misconception One: There is only one way to consume CBD
So you want to take CBD, but you also don’t want to smoke it? Or you’ve tried a couple of CBD oils, but you don’t like the flavor or texture? No worries, we totally get that! A wide variety of in-take forms allow you to customize your experience. Sure, some products are designed to be inhaled, while others are designed to be ingested. We’re not here to tell you which one is best because it depends on whether it’s the right solution. There are also tinctures, edibles, and a wide variety of topical options to suit your lifestyle. CBD has been infused into candy, under-eye creams, bathing products, makeup, and tea, just to name a few. The experts here at Spirit Peak Organics are enthusiastic representatives geared towards finding the best products to fit your needs and wants.
Misconception Two: CBD will get you high
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical compound found in the Cannabis sativa plant, frequently referred to as cannabis or hemp. It is exactly because of its origin that people frequently mistake it with a similar compound, THC. While similar from a chemistry standpoint, these two molecules result in significantly different experiences and reactions in the body.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) is also commonly known as marijuana, and it is the psychoactive component of the cannabis plant. On the other hand, CBD is found in much smaller concentrations within the plant and does not result in the high experienced with THC. Therefore, providing the sample of CBD extract is pure, there’s a chance it won’t even register on a drug test!
We will include a caveat here that there are two categories of CBD products – full-spectrum and broad-spectrum. A full-spectrum CBD product contains mainly cannabidiol but will also include up to 0.3% THC, which does have the ability to show up on a drug scan. On the other hand, a broad-spectrum product has been thoroughly distilled only to contain the CBD and other non-THC cannabinoids and therefore has no drug-like effects. The difference between these two products is particularly important if you work a job requiring regular drug testing and are concerned about this. Here at Spirit Peak Organics, we strive only to have top-quality broad-spectrum products.
Misconception Three: CBD is slow-acting or has no effects at all
We, unfortunately, aren’t doctors, and we don’t hold advanced biochemistry or pharmacology degrees – this means that we don’t have all the scientific answers as to how your body is going to react to CBD. Everything that you put into or onto your body will affect you differently than someone else. If your neighbor tried CBD to help him sleep and it didn’t work, that certainly doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to find that sense of balance and homeostasis that you’re craving. As a general rule-of-thumb, we say that if you’re adding oils or tinctures to your food or beverages, expect around a 30-minute time period to start feeling the desired effect. On the other hand, more direct and concentrated ingestion, such as putting a few drops beneath your tongue, will have a quicker activation time.
Misconception Four: If you don’t see the results you want, then CBD is fake
Unfortunately, CBD has been pushed as a miracle cure for the past several years, and because of that, people want it to be just that. They want their joint pains gone, the ability to instantly fall asleep and wake up fully rested, and for every ill to slide away like beads of water off a duck’s back. We wish that were the case as well. Unfortunately, there are no one-size-fits-all cures for anything. What works for your co-worker or best friend may simply not work for you, but the same can be said about diets or workouts.
Just because Jerry from accounting lost 45 pounds by cutting out sugary sodas does not mean that you will yield the same results, and it doesn’t mean your health journey needs to stop because your body is different. Maybe you just need to adjust your expectations of what CBD will do for you if it doesn’t have the immediate and specific results you crave. CBD is known to have a balancing effect on the mind-body level, and maybe that’s exactly what you need to start your healing journey.
Today is the best day to speak to one of our educated representatives at Spirit Peak Organics regarding our products and the best fit for you.
Misconception Five: CBD is only for the sick or injured
Maybe you’re feeling daunted from taking the next step forward in your health journey because everywhere you look about information regarding CBD is testimonials from people with sports injuries or chronic pain from long-term illnesses, and that doesn’t represent you. It can feel daunting when everyone promoting a product doesn’t reflect the issues you’re presenting but rest assured, CDB is for everyone. No matter what reason was the one that caused you to strike out on your CBD journey, there is a product out there for you!
Misconception Six: CBD is illegal
There have been a lot of changes regarding the legislation regarding CBD and THC in recent years. The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 was landmark legal work that helped alter the existing definition of what marijuana was, resulting in the exclusion of help containing less than a certain amount of THC. This was good news for those who gain a sense of well-being from CBD because it meant that CBD with less than 0.3% of THC was no longer considered a federally controlled substance.
While it may be true that federally CBD is not illegal, you need to check your state’s guidelines pertaining to the concentration and permissible weight prior to purchase. There’s nothing worse than making a purchase you are excited about and having it confiscated because it exceeds the amount allowed by your local legislation. Unfortunately, ignorance of the law is not a defense for breaking it in cases like these. Make sure you’re up to date on your state’s laws regarding CBD products to ensure a positive relationship with your pathway to incorporating CBD into your wellness!
As always, here at Spirit Peak Organics, we want to ensure you have the best experience and are living your best life. We hope this expelled some of your worries regarding some common misconceptions regarding CBD.
